Your holiday is booked, your passport is up-to-date and all that’s left to do is pack a suitcase. Organising any holiday takes considerable time and planning and once you’re away, the last thing you need is unnecessary headaches.
Here’s our top 3 things to organise before you travel.
1. Get travel insurance
When you’re on holidays or travelling the world you never expect the unexpected might happen! But the reality is that sometimes things don’t go to plan and taking out travel insurance can protect you and your family so you can get on with your holiday.
Travel insurance helps cover the cost of accidents and medical expenses, theft, disruptions to your travel plans that are outside of your control and even your delayed or lost luggage.
That’s why Phoenix Health Fund have partnered with Travelcard to bring you hassle-free travel insurance that offers real-time solutions. Benefits are paid in real time, onto your travel card so you’re not left out-of-pocket or waiting on a claim after you get home. Yes – travel insurance that’s simple! Get a quote
2. Suspend your health insurance
Did you know if you’re travelling overseas for a period 3 weeks up to 2 years, you can suspend your hospital and extras cover without affecting waiting periods?
All you need to do is ensure your contribution payments are up-to-date and register your travel application form with us before you leave home. When you return to Australia, send us your travel documents (e.g. e-tickets or boarding passes) and we’ll reactivate your membership.
If you’re travelling within Australia there’s no need to suspend your policy – Phoenix Health covers you Australia-wide Find out more
3. Make appointments that you’ve been putting off
Before travelling overseas, it’s a good idea to make an appointment with your GP to discuss any recommended vaccinations for your intended destination. If you’re taking any medication, you may need a doctor’s letter for some destinations and don’t forget to stock up for the duration of your trip so you won’t get caught looking for a pharmacy.
We recommend you have a health check before you head off. This might include a trip to the physio or even the dentist if you’ve been putting off that dental check-up. Make these appointments with plenty of time before you travel.
Wear prescription glasses? Make the most of your optical benefits with Phoenix Health and treat yourself to a new pair of prescription glasses or sunglasses before you go. It’s important you get to see those sights!
Dental check-ups, physio treatment and prescription glasses are all covered with your Phoenix Health Extras cover.* Make your cover work for you now so there’s nothing to slow you once you touch down at your destination.
