October 2020 Product and Pricing Changes

Back in March we postponed the Federal Government approved 1 April premium increase in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, for a period of 6 months, to provide our members with premium relief – because it was the right thing to do.

We’ll continue to monitor the situation as it unfolds, and continually review our member support initiatives.

By early September all members will receive a notification which will outline any premium or product changes that may come into effect for them from 1 October 2020.

While we can’t control external health costs, we’re committed to providing services and benefits that support better health outcomes for our members. This includes an additional range of benefits and services to support you during these unprecedented times. You can read more about these benefits here.

Don’t forget you can view your level of cover and all included services and limits at any time via the Phoenix Health Online Member Service (OMS) portal on the website, or by downloading the Phoenix Health App from the App Store or Google Play.

Why do premiums change?

Like any product or service, from time to time health insurance funds must review their products to meet the rising costs and demand for hospital and healthcare services.

2020 has been an unpredictable year at best, and to support you we made the decision to delay the annual increase for six months.

Putting up premiums isn’t something we enjoy doing, and as a not-for-profit health fund, we are always conscious of the rising costs that you, our member, experience each year. We want to assure you, that to meet the escalating costs and demand for hospital and healthcare services, we will only adjust premiums by the minimum amount necessary, to ensure we continue to provide you with access to affordable, quality personal health care.

New products coming soon

At Phoenix Health, we continually review the benefits and services we offer to ensure they meet the needs of members and the market, and your feedback is an important part of this process.

In response to member feedback, earlier this year we introduced a range percentage-based Extras covers, to make it easier to know exactly what you’ll get back for a treatment or service when you swipe your member card.

We’re excited to share that from 1 October we will be introducing new Hospital Covers to our product suite, which will offer you more choice and control over your Phoenix Health membership.
