Traditionally after a surgery like a joint replacement patients are sometimes required to travel to attend Specialist and Allied Health appointments or often even transferred to a Rehabilitation facility to continue their treatment and recovery. To help you get back to the things you enjoy, we offer Rehab in the Home (RITH) services, where if suitable, you can receive and/or continue your treatment from the comfort of your home.

RITH programs are available Australia-wide and focus on providing Phoenix Health members with hospital-standard care and treatment in the comfort and privacy of their own home. Some of the benefits of Rehab in the Home and can include:

  • No need to go to an outpatient rehabilitation facility
  • Shorter hospital stays
  • Early identification of post-operative complications
  • No need to travel to appointments
  • Clinical results that are equal to or better than hospital-based rehabilitation

Due to the nature of RITH, the criteria for eligibility works very differently to the other programs we offer at Phoenix Health. In some cases the hospital you had treatment at will organise and provide RITH for you, if that’s not available then we have providers we’ve partnered with to deliver RITH. Our partners are registered and clinically adept to provide the services you need. They are listed below.

Vitalis Health
Vitalis is passionate about empowering people to access hospital-standard care at home. By providing treatment in the comfort and privacy of their home, patients get greater control and choice while often also allowing them to recover better and faster than in hospital.

RITH allows you to continue your treatment from the comfort and privacy of your own home, cutting down travel between home or even being admitted into a Rehabilitation facility – so you can focus on your recovery.

Eligibility Step One: You’ve served your hospital waiting periods, been covered for surgery and your Phoenix Health Hospital cover has the clinical category Rehabilitation included, not restricted. To learn more about Inclusions, Restrictions and Exclusions click here. You can view your level of cover by visiting Online Member Services

Eligibility Step Two:
Your surgeon considers RITH to be a suitable treatment option to aid in your recovery.

Tip: Make sure you speak to Hospital staff before you’re discharged, or get in touch with us to chat about whether RITH is an option for you and your recovery.

RITH works a bit differently to our other Health Support Programs, your RITH needs to be organised prior to your discharge from hospital – a referral from both your Surgeon and discharging hospital is required.

Make sure you speak to hospital staff before your discharge from hospital as often one of our RITH providers will come and visit you in hospital to co-ordinate the services that you’ll require.

If you’re unsure, get in touch with us to chat about whether RITH is an option for you.
