Key Points
- Phoenix Health offers a range of payment options to suit different preferences.
- You can choose a payment frequency that works for your household budget.
- Keeping your payments up to date ensures your cover remains active.
- If you’re having difficulty making payments, it’s important to contact Phoenix Health as early as possible.
How can you choose a payment method that suits you best?
Everyone manages their finances differently. Some people prefer payments to happen automatically, while others like to stay hands-on and pay manually.
Phoenix Health offers several payment options, giving members flexibility in how they manage their premiums.
Payment options include:
- Direct Debit – from a bank account or credit/debit card (Visa and MasterCard)
- Quarterly Account Statement – posted to you every 3 months, detailing contributions owing to the end of the next applicable quarterly period. Payments options can then be found on the statement, including Bpay or over the phone payment options.
- Online Member Services – Members can log into their OMS portal and make a payment by Visa or Mastercard.
If you’re unsure which option is right for you, it’s worth considering how often you get paid, how closely you monitor your accounts, and whether you’d prefer payments to happen automatically.
What payment frequencies are available?
As well as choosing how you pay, you also have options around how often your premiums are paid.
You can choose to pay your premiums from the following frequencies:
- Weekly
- Fortnightly
- Monthly
- Quarterly
- Yearly
The right choice comes down to personal preference. Some members prefer smaller, more frequent payments, while others like the simplicity of paying less often.
How can you change your payment method or frequency?
Your preferences can change over time, so we’ve made it easy for you to change or update your details…
- Log into your Online Member Services – and update your details online, anytime
- Give the Phoenix Health team a call – we can discuss your options and update your details over the phone
Why do health insurance premiums need to be paid regularly?
Your premium is the amount you contribute towards the cost of your private health insurance cover.
Like most ongoing services, health insurance works on a recurring payment basis. Staying up to date with your premiums ensures you maintain access to the benefits and services included under your policy.
What happens if a payment is missed?
Life gets busy, and sometimes payments are overlooked.
If a payment is missed, it’s important to address it as soon as possible, as unpaid premiums can affect your membership status. If your payments get too far behind, your membership may be cancelled… which could mean Waiting Periods when you re-join and even have Medicare Levy Surcharge and Lifetime Health Cover implications.
If you’ve missed a payment or think you might fall behind, get in touch with us. The sooner you get in touch, the easier it is to understand your options and keep your membership on track.
Are you experiencing financial difficulty?
Financial circumstances can change unexpectedly. If you’re finding it difficult to keep up with your health insurance payments, speaking with us early is the best first step.
There are support options available depending on your situation, including Financial Hardship Suspension. Having the conversation before payments become overdue gives you more flexibility and helps avoid unnecessary interruptions to your cover.
